Badges

Working towards badges is an important part of Scouting. It demonstrates achievement and encourages children and adults to gain new skills. Some badges are done at meetings, camps and trips, others are done at home. A selection of badges are provided below, which you can click on to see the criteria for that badge. Many children will bring in what they have done to prove that they have fulfilled the requirements, others might keep a diary or a photo album to use as evidence." Some of the staged badges, such as swimming or music, can be signed off by a qualified teacher/instructor.

Please note, that staged activity badges transfer from Beavers to Cubs, Cubs to Scouts and Scouts to Explorers as the child grows up. The most recent Joining in award (how long they have been in Scouting) and their Bronze, Silver or Gold award also carries on to their next section. All other badges that are not transferred or that are superseded can go on their camp blanket which they start in Cubs.

Leaders and executive members gain badges for length of service. Leaders can additionally gain badges and awards for good service.
